"CASA" Stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate
CASA volunteers are screened, comprehensively trained, and supervised by CASA program staff to provide consistent, caring support for children (from birth to age 18, and occasionally beyond to age 23) who have experienced abuse or neglect and are in the child protection system.
CASA volunteers:
- Develop relationships with their case children and routinely assess their well-being;
- Check in with teachers, care providers, and service providers;
- Recommend necessary services for their case children;
- Submit periodic reports to the Court with recommendations on what’s in the child’s best interests.
